In the Dark

(OK, folks, this is another realllllllllly oldie that I dusted off and reworked--you can tell I'm dating myself by "rewinding the tape" which of course VCRs are obsolete now, LOL!)

Movie’s over.
I had a great time.
Be sure to rewind the tape
and pick up
what you leave behind.

Don’t flip the switch on just yet—
yawn and stretch in the hazy static
for awhile. 

No need to move--
I’m perfectly wonderful
sharing my quiet with you
as I trace lazy circles
in worn spots on the carpet.
Movie’s over.
I had a great time.
Be sure to rewind the tape
and pick up
what you leave behind.

Don’t put your shoes on just yet,
but close your eyes,
feel the soothing, steady rattle
of the A/C echo
through the air
in the room. 

No need to rush--
I’m perfectly content
sharing my dark with you
as I prop my head up
with your pillow.
Movie’s over.

Don’t worry about
moving the chairs back just yet--
just leave them alone.
I’ll take care of everything
tomorrow.

Inaugurally yours.... OK, I guess it's about time that I finally put myself out there in bloggsville; I mean, after all, just about everyone I know seems to have one--"everyone's doing it, so why not ME??" is the rationale I'm using at present. OK, What exactly does "It is what it is" mean??!!!!

I mean, honestly, what the TWIZZZ does that really mean??!! Have you thought about it? HAVE YOU??? I hear it all the time, everywhere, in meetings, in hallways, on the radio or TV--my former boss used to say it all the time, became her novel catchphrase, just like "At the end of the day," or "Be that as it may," and then BAM!!!!!!! I start hearing it all over the place. Even to the point of my MOM telling me that her nephew had the greatest "zen" phrase that she wanted to share with me--guess what it was...c'mon, go ahead...."YES!!!! IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!!!" OK, I guess I'm venting a little, but every time I hear it, I take a moment to try to understand what this little, albeit ANNOYING, phrase means. So, humor me a little while I verbally muck around in the spirit of reaching for deep truth and meaning.
