Timed Out


Why do I get quiet time?
I'm not a child, you now.
Won't go sulk in the corner
because you don't wanna deal with it,
because you lost a voice for what's inside,
because you scared yourself and don't know
what to do with your sticky pizza fingers anymore.

Why do I get time out?
It's not fair, you know.
Won't go write rules down after class
because you don't wanna feel it,
because you lost the strength to do what's right,
because you psyched yourself out and don't know
what to do at recess anymore.

Why do I get nothing?
I'm still here, you know.
Won't run home and cry to Mamma
because you don't wanna fix it,
because you're afraid of letting go again,
because you shut yourself off and don't know
what to do after school anymore.

Why don't they teach stuff like this at school?

Inaugurally yours.... OK, I guess it's about time that I finally put myself out there in bloggsville; I mean, after all, just about everyone I know seems to have one--"everyone's doing it, so why not ME??" is the rationale I'm using at present. OK, What exactly does "It is what it is" mean??!!!!

I mean, honestly, what the TWIZZZ does that really mean??!! Have you thought about it? HAVE YOU??? I hear it all the time, everywhere, in meetings, in hallways, on the radio or TV--my former boss used to say it all the time, became her novel catchphrase, just like "At the end of the day," or "Be that as it may," and then BAM!!!!!!! I start hearing it all over the place. Even to the point of my MOM telling me that her nephew had the greatest "zen" phrase that she wanted to share with me--guess what it was...c'mon, go ahead...."YES!!!! IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!!!" OK, I guess I'm venting a little, but every time I hear it, I take a moment to try to understand what this little, albeit ANNOYING, phrase means.
